Description of Section:

We are young section, one of 6 in Bratislava. Since we are new section and small one (as for students' income/outcome, not in spirit) we realy on cooperation with ESN Bratislava working group and we participate on most of the events organised by ESN CU BA, ESN PEU, ESN STU, ESN VSMU and we are organising our own events. Thanks to this, we are able to provide a rich experience for our foreign students and ensure that they will never forget about their Erasmus. We are also working on joint projects of ESN Bratislava which can (and will) bring more and easier integration of foreign students and thanks to that, they will experience the best semester of their life. We are non-formal group of students. Main working group consists from board and five buddies with help of other students from our school. Students who returned from the Erasmus this year (as our school started with Erasmus last year – 2010/2011) are big help but some of them don’t have enough time to be part of our buddy system so they participate only when they can.

History of section:

We started as informal association of students, when our university started with Erasmus program – in December of 2010. Jana Gasperová (our President), at that time on Erasmus program in Brno, Czech republic, came with an idea of forming some kind of informal association of students,  as she was surprised of so much attention she received before/after she arrived to Brno. First, we started with only 3 active members, but we already had 6 active members when Erasmus students arrived in February 2011 and during the year 4 more joined. With help of our university and Erasmus Coordinator we managed to establish a stable working group. After couple of months, we have submitted an application to join the ESN. Admitted to the ESN network on National Platform Nitra 2011.

Something about City:

Bratislava is a beautiful city. It is great, but still a small town, certainly not a cheap city but it is a Capital city. Bratislava has great geographical location, one hour to Wien, 4 hours to Prague and Budapest. Here, you can find growing international community, clubs and events that you have dreamt about all of your student life. Old historical city (Old Town) with coronation church, old buildings and traditional market, is surrounded by modern city  with passages and shops. Bratislava might be Europe's most relaxed, because what this city does have is old-town charm, sophisticated restaurants, traditional pubs, good music ranging from jazz to opera, stylish people, and a human scale which means that as a visitor you will not spend half your day trekking in and out of underground stations or getting from the airport into town.  All this, and Europe's greatest river as a backdrop.  What more could you want?

Interesting projects or events:

  • Trips to Prague, Budapest and Wien. Ski trips to High Tatras and Low Tatras. Paintball wars.
